Mosquito Anatomy 101

The adult mosquito is considered by many to be an ugly insect. The earlier life stages are even more off-putting.

This is the first stage of mosquito development. These wigglers breathe through their hind ends and eat anything that swims by their mouths. They are rarely alone. Most often, they can be found in massive numbers, clogging stale puddles and ponds.

This next stage is the pupa stage. At this point, they quit eating and just breathe.
